************************************ The ST Club =========== 49 Stoney Street Nottingham NG1 1LX 0602-410241 ************************************ DISK_MAG - DMG.15 ================= NOTE: For instructions on unpacking the ARC files see below. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CONTENTS: ========= ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** 1STSHOW *** Shows 1st_WORD documents to the desktop; much faster than loading 1st_WORD.PRG every time you want to look at a WP mode 1stWord text file. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** ALARM *** Alarm clock accessory - only works from the desktop or within a GEM application. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** ARCX.TTP *** Use this to un-ARC the *.ARC files - full instructions at the end of this file. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** BESTSHEL *** Shell utility - this is a demo version of a commercial product. But the only limitation is that you are limited to 5 menu's - which is quite enough for many applications. If your work sessions include regularly moving between a number of programs in different folders then this will be invaluable. (High and medium resolution only) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** BOOT_INF *** Auto loads a text file at boot up - useful if you want a readme file to be displayed when a disks is booted. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** CAPS LOCK *** Displays a caps lock light on the right of the menu bar - excellent for 1st Word or any other program that doesn't show the caps lock status. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** DCACHE *** Disk Cache system - includes control accessory that gives comprehensive control over the cache when it is installed. Very useful with well behaved applications, and much more flexible than a RAM disk. Avoid using this with applications which may suffer fatal crashes - files you thought had been written to disk may not be there when you re-boot. (High and Medium resolution only) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** DCOPY3.302 *** More than a disk copier - includes fast ARC utilities, file handling and text file conversions. (High and Medium Resolution only) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** DOMINOES *** Well executed logic game that is a lot harder than it seems at first. GFA Basic source code included. (High and Low Resolution only) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** EZLABELS *** Prints up to 5 lines of text on 3.5" envelope address labels; a lot less bother than trying to feed an envelope through the printer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** FSELV60 *** Another replacement Item Selector - the best specified PD example yet. Includes: sort by: size, date, time, extension; change: file name, read only status, time and date; plus a directory printer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** GEN_LOCK *** Autoloads a DEGAS PI? file to the desktop at boot up (place in AUTO folder) with PI? file on the root directory. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** HACN100 *** Shareware Disk Copier with many facilties for copying protected disks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** MAC ICON *** Novelty fix to replace the disk icons with Macintosh lookalikes. (Does anyone have the source code for this?) (New TOS incompatible?) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** M_WRITER *** Message Writer - very accomplished scrolling message writter written by Gareth Pople; assembler source code included. (Low Resolution only) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** MM_COPY *** English version of the file copy accessory first distributed on DMG.11 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** NASTY *** See Article in The ST Club Newsletter Issue 21. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** QUICKSORT *** Sorts text files alphabetically. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** RAMBABY *** New faster version of the Intersect RAM disk and printer spooler accessory. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** TINYLD *** Accessory to load .TNY format pictures into Degas Elite. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** V23EMU *** Patch to allow most comms utilities to operate at V23 (1200/75 baud). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** ZAPCARD *** Very nice index card style database; up to 3 sorted lines, 6 keywords and 10 lines of text per card. Up to 1024 cards allowed on a 520ST. (Medium and High resolution only) ==================================== %%%%%%%%%%%%% Un packing the Archived (.ARC) files %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% * Unpacking * 1 - Copy ARCX.TTPand an .ARC file onto a disk with sufficient free space on it. (Note: the UN-Archiving will be MUCH faster if you use a RAM disk) 2 - Run ARCX.TTP (double click on its Icon); in the OPEN APPLICATION box enter the name of the ARC file to be unpacked and press Return (or click on the OK box). 3 - Once the desktop returns the ARC file will have been unpacked and the .ARC file may be deleted. 4 - Continue with these steps until all of the files have been unpacked; the un-ARCd files will all fit onto a single DS disk or two SS disks. ** HAPPY? ** Your comments on the format and contents of the Disk_Mags are always welcome. All feedback will be taken into account when future Disk_Mags are prepared. * PROBLEMS? * If you have real hassles getting all of the un-packing to work then return this disk, a second disk and return postage and we will supply copies of the unpacked files.
